Mr Brewin’s Year 11 Division 1 Revision Page

Here’s the link to the revision document I talked about. Just to clarify: this is not a revision list focused on the January exam, but just a collation of the work we have done this term.

I’ve not actually seen the Jan exam – quite deliberately. We’re all going into this blind, so we can get a true idea of what grade you would get if you sat the GCSE now.

Do use this post to ask questions about revision etc. over the holidays, or use the link on the revision sheet above when you download it.

Happy Christmas!

aah!! I just wrote a whole comment and somehow I made the lovely computer delete it.. hurrah! :D

    Okay..
Firstly, I can’t remember (or find in my books) when you should use the Cosine rule rather than Sine rule.. It’s to do with the sides and angles given. right?

Also.. fo rthe 2bc sinA part of the Cosine rule, which parts do I do first? (or do I just put it all into the calculator and hope!)

:( my first comment was nicer :(
Well.. thank you, and sorry for asking something that I should really know!!

    Grace :)

    Hi Grace,

Looks like KB hasn’t logged on so:

2bcsinA – order doesn’t matter when you are multiplying so no bit has to be done first in this term. Just enter it into your calculator as it is; BODMAS is applied by the calculator.

Cosine Rule: links three sides and one angle

Sine Rule: links angle with opposite side in matching pairs.

    Does that help or not?

Thank you :) It does help..
    (sorry I didn’t reply earlier)

Good old BODMAS.. :D (although.. my brother was taught something else.. which sounded almost, but not quite, like BODMAS.. It made me dispair- surley BODMAS cannot be replaced!?!)

    Thanks again,
    Grace
