    hi
    it’s amal.
how do you qu. 3 and 6 on pg 25, ex 1g?
don’t understand how to turn those numbers into standard forms if they have the 3 and the 7 in.

  • Hi Amal,
I don’t have the book so can you tell me what the full numbers are please then I can try to help you.
    Mrs Tibble

  • Mr Brewin

    Qu 3: 15300 -> 1.53 x 10,000 which you can turn to standard form.

    Qu 6: 39070 -> 39.07 x 10,000 which goes to…

    Hope that helps!

  • Mr Brewin

    Oops sorry! I meant 39070 goes to 3.907 x 10000!

  • aalia

    Hi mr brewin

im really confused i think that the last homework that you marked was wrong, the one on standard form

    there was a question like
    convert 2500 -> i put 2.5 x 10 (to the power of 2) i got it right

shouldnt it be 10 (to the power of 3)?

Mr Brewin i don’t remember the ration questions. EX 5C. it just the do you flipp the numbers around or just the multiplication as it is
    EG
    1:4=12:x=1/4 = 12/x= 4/1 x 12/1
    Answer:48

but in other questions you don’t have to do that

    EG
    x:9=3:5=x/9 = 3/5=3/5 x 9/1
    Answer: 5 2/5

    why do you do that
    please HELP!!

  • Azaly Bunally

BY the way it was on page 94

  • Mr Brewin

Depends on the question… doesn’t matter which way round the ratio is written, you can write it with the x on top of the fraction…

BUT I’m sure I asked you to do page 97! Dividing into a ratio?!

    Hi Mr Brewin,

Did you tell my mum that i’ve been good?

    LOL
    =]

  • Aalia

did we have maths homework over the holidays?

  • Aalia

this has nothing to do with standered formm,, butt i cant do the homework :( its the one about probability tree diagrams. i dont understand how you are ment to do it. and i have asked my brother who does gcse maths and he cant do it either :( so, i dont know what to do. i will try but i will be wrong

  • Emiy Lawson

    Hey

This is to do with the probability hw

Are we spose to do q 3 or not

  • Mr Brewin

Yes, but I said later parts of 3 were tough, so don’t spend ages on it!

  • Pia

OMG that maths homework was soooo hard

and i know it’s late but i had to wait untiil my dad came home as my mum is in brighton and rubbish at maths… :)

    Anyway …

It was sooo hard so i only did up to question 3 as it took me over 3 hours

    Sorry

My dad is writing a note …
    :( i’m sad lol

  • Pia, you aren’t supposed to spend more than 25 minutes on 1 piece of work. That’s the rule!! And why didn’t you come on here to ask for help while you were doing it ?
    Mrs T

  • Pia Quist

This has nothing to do with standard form but i don’t understand the hw… :)

what are we meant to do ???

    Pia

  • Mr Brewin

Firstly, find out how far it is round the outside of a running track, assuming that the inside is 400m, and there are 8 lanes of 1m.

Then work out how far ahead of Lane 1 the person in Lane 8 must start if they are both to run 400m and arrive at the finish together. OK?

  • What an interesting question, Mr B :-)
Is the track round or track-shaped – in which case what is the radius of curvature of the ends?
    Tea Lady

  • Pia Quist

    Thanks Mr Brewin,

    I get it now
    :)

Is it in for Tuesday or Wednesday

and i think the track is track shaped Mrs Tibble

    Pia
