Great work covering the books
The slides on curve sketching are here. There’s more than you need – goes into the next couple of lessons, so you can read ahead if you like…
Ex 4A and 4B for Friday, plus the special h/w to hand in on paper too.

hey im getting really confused on 4a 2 exercise question f.) y=(x-1)^2 x
so would (x-1)^2 be the difference of two squares?
so would it then turn to
y=(x-1)(x+1)(x+o)
so would the roots be
1, -1 and infinity??
aaah im so confused . . .
Is the power the 2 or the 2x?
If it’s bracket squared then it’s (x-1)(x-1)x
so the roots are 0 and 1(twice). What do repeated roots tell you when you are curve-sketching?
hi
this isnt related to any topic in particular. its just a general maths question so I didnt really know where to post it so sorry if this causes any confusion.
basically i was wondering if the date for our C1 paper in January 2009 has been announced yet?
Thanks and hope you are all having a great holiday
Jacynth
Hi Jacynth,
It’s Friday 9th Jan in the morning. 1hr 30min.
Enjoy half term.
Tea Lady
ok thankyou very much
sir or miss,
could you pleez post the answers for ex 4E and onwards?
Are you talking pure or stats, Deola? Aren’t the answers in the back of the book or on the CD?
Hey Deola, if it’s the curve sketching stuff you’re after, then it should be in back of the book. If it’s not, I’ll try to post it shortly…
Mrs T >>> i meant pure maths
Mrs T + Mr B >>> I have the new book and it doesn’t contain the answers at the back
Mr B >>> Thanx
p.s. umm…the time on this site is an hour fast…shouldn’t it be 2:37 now, not 3:37??
OK, here you go.
Downloaded it from my school computer from Newcastle. First proper use of portal EVER! Woo hoo.
And I think the time should be right now! Thanks for the heads up
Deola,
With the new books, the answers are on the disc. Put the CD into your computer – it’s pretty straightforward to navigate – even I managed it with FP1 lol!!
Mrs T
lol fanx Mrs T and congrats Mr B
umm…if the question is: “find the equation of the graph in form y=f(x)”
does that mean the translations or what type of graph it is, e.g. f(x)=f(x-2)-1 or f(x)=x2(squared) ?
uh Mrs T, the answer aren’t on the CD
actully they are thanx mrs T
