    Hi Mr Williams ,
Im not in your form but I am a bit stuck on my homework ,
If i want to find the area of a trapezium should I make it into two triangles and a square ?
    Thankyou :)

Hi mr.Williams i am really confused.com ’cause on page1 excercise 1.1, sequences, question 6a, the book says the term to term rule (what is a term to term rule?) is x3 -1 but the numbers showing are 1,5….. and you have 2 fill in the rest but 1 x 3 = 3 3 – 1 = 2 and the next number on in the sequence is 5, so i don’t get how that can be? =0 =0 ????

    Hi Mr Williams,
Im Kind of Stuck On What Position-Term Meens? So Should i Just Leave Question 5 Out Becouse Homework Is Due for Tomorrow.
    Thnak You :)

  • Mrs Tibble

Kassa, it means working out the value of the term by knowing what its position in the list is.

    hi mr. willams

i was doing the homework on the computer, and i am on question 3b, i cant work out how to get the answer.

    the question is…
how many red and blue triangles would there be in the 20th pattern?

  • Alice

    hi

    Mr Willaiams

I’m sorry but I really don’t understand it I am leaving it out until you reply so plz don’t be cross if I can’t do it :( :( 8( (by the way it’s Q5 and Q6 on pg 19)
    Thank you
    Connie :(

  • Connie

Ok I’m going to leave it but I won’t log out just in case your there….. somewhere…….. :)

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Connie,
Don’t panic!!! I have a text book so can help you – thought you were in the HW book which I don’t have.
n is the position number or term number: Imagine you have the sequence written out in a list and you number the terms according to their position ie the first term is no1, the second is no2 etc.
    The rule is 15 – 8n which means 15 – 8 x position number
Now you should be able to work out what the values are for terms 1 to 5, and those answers will help you go back to answer part a.
In question 6, think of the mapping as being like a function machine: you put in an x value, the machine works out what x/6 is and then spits out the answer. The table gives you 3 values of x to put in and work out the answer, then it tells you 2 answers and you have to work out what x value was put in.
    Hope that helps.

    Thanx Mrs Tibble
(I was only panicking because this is revision for the test tommorrow)

  • Connie

Ok I will, but my last one didn’t go so well (as you will remember!) and my mum would probably rather I didn’t get 57% again!

  • Mrs Tibble

You’re still here though, so she clearly didn’t kill you lol!

  • Connie

    Hi Sian,
Scroll up to my big answer to Connie – see if that helps.

    HELLOO RANDOM SIXTH-FORMER, I’VE KINDA FORGOTTEN HOW TO ADD FRACTIONS.PLEASSEEEEEEEE HELP. :D ;0 ;0 ;0 ;D

  • keavy

    DON’T WORRY, I GOT IT!!!!! :D

  • keavy

    OHOH, NOW I’M A REALLY CONFUZZLED. ERM IN 1/5 + 3/4 WELL LIKE THEN 5&4 BOTH GO INTO 20 SOO 5 GOES IN2 20 4TIMES, AND 4 GOES IN2 20 5TIMES, SO TAT WOULD BE 4/20 + 5/20 = 9/20,RIGHT???? WELL LIKE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE 1 AND THE 3 FROM 1/5 AND 3/5???? :0

  • keavy

SORRY AT THE END THAT SHOULD BE: WHAT HAPPENS TO THE 1/5 AND 3/4!!!

  • Mrs Tibble

    Keavy,
Firstly it’s Wednesday today so we’re back lol!
Re the fractions – when you form an equivalent fraction, you have to do the same thing to the top and bottom of it, otherwise it’s no longer the same fraction.
1/5 becomes 4/20 by multiplying top and bottom by 4, but 3/4 can’t be 5/20 because you have multiplied the bottom by 5 but you haven’t done that to the top.
    JT
PS Please do not SHOUT: it’s not acceptable or necessary.

Hi,Im RLY stuckk on the maths homework on Exterior and Interior angles page12 in the Levels 5-7 maths book

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Hannah,

There are a few facts you need to remember which will help you work everything else out.

    1. With regular polygons, the sides are all the same length and the angles are all the same size.

    2. The exterior angles ALWAYS add up to 360 for every polygon.

    3. The interior and exterior angle at any corner add up to 180 because they are angles on a straight line.

    4. The number of angles is the same as the number of sides.

Does that help to get you started?

    Mrs T

  • Hannah Hindle

    Thank you Mrs Tibble

  • Vanessa Mabelle

I am stuck on page 58 (excersise 11.4) and I am stuck on questions 2f and 3c. Can you help me?

  • Mrs Tibble

    Vanessa,

3c) links in with 3b. Think about putting lots of these triangles together (all the points at the centre) How many would you need?

2f) What do you know about isosceles triangles? What size are the angles in an equilateral triangle?
