mrs t i know im not in this group but mr williams left us some homework about long multiplication and i want to do the stripes method but i have completly forgotten how to do it!! can you help me!!

Hi Olivia,
Do the stripes to represent the tens and units. Start both numbers on the left and work downhill for stripes like///// and uphill for stripes like \\\\\. The hundreds tens and units for your answer are found by counting up the crossing points in vertical columns.
Bit difficult to explain on here, but that should refresh your memory.

Look at what you wrote in your book today:
Area = (a+b)xh divided by 2
Does that help? a and b are the lengths of the long and short sides, and h is the distance between them.
