erm, why is it 8 exactlly?
oops sorry I spelt it wrong; Why is it 8 exacly?
I am so confused! I hate algebra! Just as I thought I cracked it, a nasty surprise comes along. I know you have explained c but I still do not get it! Wait…… I jut found the answer, I had it written down all along! But I still don’t get it.
is it because 3×8 is 24?

Yes, it’s because 3×8=24 so if 3 x bracket = 24, bracket must work out to 8.

How do you multiply out the brackets again, I have forgotten
Hi Gemma,
Multiply everything inside the bracket by what is in front of it.
For example
4(6x – 3)
means 4 lots of 6x minus 4 lots of 3
ie 24x – 12
Does that help?
