hi mrs tibble
Hi Rebecca,
Well done for signing in first
JT
Hello Mrs Tibble, trying to spell Obtuse correctly.
hi Mrs Tibble, lucy patterson here
Hi Lucy,
Welcome to the maths blog
JT
Hi Olivia,
lol, don’t think you’ll ever get that one wrong again
Mrs T
I am not sure on the angles homework
Hello mrs Tibble i’m in mr Brewin’s class and i am a stuck on the homework but know one is there and the homework is in for tommorrow can i ask you?
Hi Poppy,
Is this the question I’ve just answered for you?!!
JT
You can ask me Poppy – be as specific as you can!
Hi Elise,
Use all the rules you know to calculate the values of the missing angles:
in a triangle the angles add up to 180
on a straight line the angles add up to 180
vertically opposite angles are equal (the same size)
in a quadrilateral the angles add up to 360
angles round a point add up to 360
You can also use the edges of the page as parallel lines and look for alternate or interior angles.
Just do what you can and leave the rest to sort out in the lesson.
Good Luck!!
i am not really sure with the maths homework !!!
Elise,
Have you read the reply I left you? Start with the corner triangles and remember that the corner of the page is a right angle so is 90 degrees. Work out the missing triangle angles which will give you a total of 180.
Then down the sides of the page where the two angle values are drawn, work out what is missing to give you a total of 180.
Don’t worry about the rest – we’ll look at it tomorrow.
Mrs T
Don’t worry mr brewin mrs tibble has helped me and i understand now.
mrs tibble,
i dont understand question 4 page 35 of the homework book????:(
hi mrs tibble,
i am not really sure with question 4 on the homework?????
Hi Mrs Tibble i’m stuck on question 7 on p34 of the home work please help!
Lucy Painter
Hellllloooooo mrs tibble
am i the last one to sign in…? ://
Hi Elise,
Sorry this is appearing late: we’ve been in school for a parents’ evening.
Each letter stands for an unknown angle which you need to work out the value of using the rules you have been learning in school.
If you take the letters in order it will help you.
Start with angle a next to the 63 degrees. What is the link between these two angles? Use the rule to calculate the value of a.
Then use one of your parallel line rules to work out b; angles in a triangle for c etc.
Does that help?
Mrs Tibble
Hi Lucy,
part a use vertically opposite angles and angles on a straight line
part b the same but also angles in a triangle.
Mrs Tibble
Hi Lauren,
No you aren’t the last.
Mrs T
But Miss Tibble what do they add up to is 360degrees?
Actually dont worry i’ve worked it out!!!!
Well done, Lucy
hi mrs tibble i am not sure on the coordinates homework
xx
Hi Elise,
Have you chosen some points and written down their coordinates?
If you’ve done it correctly there will be a very obvious pattern in the x and y values.
Describe the pattern in words.
Now try to use symbols and you’ll be there
Mrs Tibble
Hi Mrs Tibble,
What is the name of Mr Riedel’s maths website?
Hi Kate,
Hope you’re feeling better.
It’s http://www.mathsonline.org/
Mrs T
Hi mrs tibble
Sorry I couldn’t go on the maths blog for few days
I lost the homework paper that u gave me, can you send it to me again please :’) x
Actually I found it :L sorry…
Lauren.T
Thanks Mrs Tibble
how Mrs Tibble am stuck on the worksheet it the bit that say Which digits can be used.a)in the first position(starting on the left)x
Rebecca,
On the clock there are four digits (numbers). Starting on the left, which of the numbers in your list of possibles could actually be used as that first number?
Mrs T
THANK YOU THAT HELPS
hi mrs tibble i have looked at the homework you gave us 2day and i dont understand it????
Elise x
Hi Elise,
Well done for using the blog to ask for help straight away – glad you were listening to me!!!!
Pg 72 Q5
For each part they tell you what transformation they have used ie translation(slide), rotation(turn) or reflection – or combination of these.
You have to say how they have used it, so
for a translation, how many squares left/right, up/down
for a rotation, what angle, which way, where’s the centre you’re turning it round
for a reflection – where’s the mirror line
For each one, you are starting with the blue shape and ending up with the colour they say.
Hope that helps.
Page 73 Q6
Copy the diagram. Use separate diagrams for the 2 shapes if it’s too confusing.
Mark the centre – they give you the coordinates.
The scale factor of 3 means 3 times as big and 3 times as far from C (in the same direction )
The scale factor of 2 means twice as big and twicw as far from C.
You should be OK now. Good luck!
Mrs T
Hi mrs Tibble i’m stuck on the maths homework p50 question 3 i’m not sure what this means: nth term is n (it’s plus, minus, multiplyed or divided by a certain number in this space)
Hi Lucy,
‘n’ means the position number so for the first term, n=1
for the 10th term, n=10
for the 100th term, n=100
Does that help you?
Mrs T
Thanks Mrs Tibble that helps alot!!!!
Mrs Tibble I dont get question 4 A + B ….. Please help
Hi Lauren,
4a is the same as question 3. Use the rule to work out the first 5 terms of the sequence (using n=1,2,3,4,5 in turn), then once you have done that, have a look at your sequence and see if you can see what the rule is that takes you from one term to the next (the term-to-term rule).
When you have done that, the answer to part b will become clear.
Mrs T
Thank you
Hi Mrs Tibble,
Iam not to sure about how to find the square roots of numbers
hi mrs tibble what is the maths homework?
Hi Rebecca,
It’s page 30 questions 2, 3a,b,e,f, and 5a,b.
Write a list of the first 20 square numbers.
Mrs T
Hi Nubiah,
With the easy numbers you can work it out from your times tables (look at the examples in your notes from today’s lesson). You need to work out what number has been squared to get the number you have in front of you.
eg the square root of 16 is 4 because 4×4=16
When the numbers aren’t whole numbers, use the square root button on your calculator.
Mrs T
Ohhh thank you Mrs Tibble
Hi, Mrs Tibble
I’m stuck on the maths homework. On page 30 Q5, a,b.
Please could you help me.
Thank you. From Grace
Hi Grace,
Use powers to simplify it just as you were doing in the lesson. The only difference is they’ve used letters rather than numbers. The powers are exactly the same however
eg y x y = y-squared just like 3 x 3 = 3-squared
Does that help?
Mrs T
Hi, Mrs Tibble
Thank you for helping me, I now can simplify the letters. Its just I’m not quite sure if we say the answer eg =.
