    Please can you help me!!
    Thank you Charlotte

    Hey Just Signing In :)

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Charlotte,
I don’t have a book here so I will have to make one up that’s similar.
Think of a triangle (cos it makes the numbers easy and gives you an answer you already know is right!)
    Three corners
Three lots of 180 degrees at each corner (int + ext)
3 x 180 = 540 degrees for the grand total of all the angles
However, the exterior angles add up to 360 deg (because they always do)
So the rest of the 540 must be inside the triangle.
    540 – 360 = 180
so the interior angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees (You know that’s right)

    Does that help?
Try one from the exercise using this method and come back with your answer so I can tell you if it’s right.

Hey just signing in. Do we use our school email address or our home one? Because i used my school one :S x

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Alice,
We prefer you to use your school e-mail but it doesn’t actually matter because it doesn’t appear on here.

  • Thank you so much Mrs Tibble, Ex 6E Q1
The interiors angles of 6 sided polygon.
    p+q=180
    6×180= 1080
    1080-360= 720
    Thank you :)

  • Mrs Tibble

    Well done Charlotte :-)

  • Kasia

    Hi Ms Tible.
I just want to make sure I am doing the homwwork right. This is what I think we have to do.

    No of sides= 5
    Total of all sides 180 Deg x 5 =….. ( I know this)

    ….- 360 degrees

    = …..

    Is this correct??

  • Mrs Tibble

Yes, except that in line 2 you should have ‘total of all angles’ not sides!!!!

  • Kasia

    Ok thank you.

    See you at school

    :)

    Hi Mrs. Tibble signed in!

and i haved looked at it and it’s really
    confusing please can you help!!

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Ella,
Look at the explanation I left for Charlotte above (it’s the 4th one down). That should help. Also Charlotte’s reply 3 below that.

    Helo Mrs Tibble
    did we have homework tonight??

  • Mrs Tibble

Jasmine – you were in the lesson! You should know the answer to that question!!!

  • Erin

Hi, its just me signing in

    (:

  • Kasia

    Hello Ms Tible

I am stuck on question 5 on page ten of the h/w book. Coul you help me?

  • Yasmine Dickens

i do not understand pg 10 qu 3 and 5

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Kasia and Yasmine,
I don’t have a book at home so I can’t look at the question for you. From memory, do you have to work out the value of unknown angles? Use what you know about angles in a triangle (180deg), angles in a quadrilateral (360deg), and the symmetry of the diagrams. Also, in a right angled corner, the angles have to add up to 90 degrees.
Does that help? If not, you’ll have to describe the question – or come along at lunchtime tomorrow for help (1pm in C7)
    JT

  • Yasmine Dickens

dont worry we have figured it out :)

  • Mrs Tibble

    Good – well done 8-)

  • Kasia

The question shows an upside down isosceles trapezium. The top left angle is angle E the top right angle is angle F the bottom left angle is angle G and the bottom right angle is angle H. They have drawn a line from angle E to H which makes two triangles. They have only given one angles measurement. That angle is angle H and its 38 degrees. They have asked us to give the measurement for angle F. This is a bit confussing so if I havent made any sense I will ask you tomorow.

  • Kasia

oo i didnt figure it out. :(

  • Anastasia N :)

    Hi Mrs Tibble :)

Well I don’t get the question that Kasia is confused on && the next question after it..

  • Mrs Tibble

    Kasia,
When you say upside down, do you mean the long parallel side is at the top?
Also, which bit of angle H is 38 degrees?

  • Mrs Tibble

PS Are there any other marks on the sides eg lines to show sides are the same length?

  • Alice Luddington

    Hello

I don’t get q’s 3,4, and 5 on the homework! Help is needed please :)

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Alice,
I don’t have a book at home so you will need to explain the question to me.
    JT

  • Alice L

Question 3 done but on q 4 do you work out the middle letter so B?

  • Alice L

Ok for question 4 it says look at this kite. find <ABC , <CBD and <ACD. They gave you angle a which is 120 and angle d which is 50.

  • Alice L

you said something about a middle letter…

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Alice,
Drawing what you have described, is angle C opposite angle A?
You can use the symmetry of the kite to find angle C.
If you are told one of the other angles, and you know what angles in a quadrilateral have to add up to, then you can work out the missing angle.
Yes, the angle you want is the letter in the middle of the 3 so angle ABC means angle B

  • Alice L

I’m having a maths lesson tomorrow so i could ask my tutor then

  • Mrs Tibble

What I’ve said above should enable you to answer Q4 on your own, then ask your tutor to check your reasoning.

  • Imani T

    Mrs Tibble,
i didnt bring my maths books home on friday for the homework because i didnt look at my diary before i left school, so please could i do it at lunch time tommorow and hand it in on your desk as soon as ive done it? sorry

  • Mrs Tibble

Imani, I have a much better idea: go to school early and do it before registration so that you will be able to hand it in in the lesson (period 2). That way, you won’t get a lunchtime detention!

  • Ella Moore

    Hi Mrs Tibble,
    I am doing the h/w but i don’t get
Q5 and 6!!! Please could you help me?

    thank you
    Ella

  • Mrs Tibble

    Hi Ella,
I don’t have the book at home – sorry – so I’m not sure exactly what the question asks.
Plenty of people above have asked for help, so see if anything I’ve written there gives you clues.
Look for angles in triangles adding up to 180, or quadrilaterals adding up to 360, or angles which are the same from the symmetry of the shape.
Don’t lose any sleep over it – we’ll look at it in the lesson.

  • Erin

hi, can we use calculators for the homewrok i had to catch up on or the current homework?

  • Anastasia N :)

    Hi, I am stuck on some questions cause they are writing them like;
6 to the power of 4 divided 6 to the power of 7 =….

So do I have to take away 7 from 4?????

  • Anastasia N :)

Oh wait I think I got….. do u have to put a minus <> on the power????

  • Mrs Tibble

No Erin, as some of it is index form, a calculator won’t help – unless you can’t do things like 2+3 in your head!!
