freya - try the link on the post for year 13. There are GCSE papers there as well but they are set out in a rather confusing way. Give it a try away.

now I see..

:\ put me in a primary school class and I will be bottom :\

why isn't (x+1)² = x² + 1² = x² + 1??..
I'm confused...
OHHH!! becasue its actually (x+1)(x+1) !!!
I SEE!

sorry sorry sorry... how very foolish!!

Brr....
I hope I'll be okay tomorrow ...

Thanks Mrs Tibble!

(x+1)^2 IS NOT x^2 + 1

and

x^2 PLUS x^2 makes 2 x^2!!!
Powers only change when you multiply or divide.

The basic approach of how to tackle the question was sound however lol!

Good luck tomorrow. I suggest you practise multiplying 2 brackets together!

On the calculator paper, there's a question I've answered, but am not sure that it's correct... could someone please aid me in my quest for a good mark?

Its Qu 13 "Prove Algebraically that the sum of the squares of any two consecutive integers is an odd number"

I said that (where x is an integer)..
x² + (x+1)² = an odd number
so..
x² + (x+1)² = x² + x² + 1 = x^4 +1
and because anything to the power of 4 is an even number (because anything multiplied by an even number becomes even itself??) anything ^4 + 1 must be odd (as it's the numer after an even number?)

Does that make sense??
Thank youu..
Grace :P
